Description

Downtek™ Insulation

The Bobcat 45ºF features Downtek™ responsibly sourced down. Downtek™ is water-repellent keeping you dry and lengthening the life of your quilt. Whether in the backcountry or the backyard, this backpacking quilt offers lightweight superior warmth in unexpected places.

Comfort for the backcountry

Our Atmos™ 20D nylon ripstop is tear-resistant and buttery soft. The quilt material is coated with a DWR finish so water, mud, and coffee roll right off. The stitch-through diamond construction pattern keeps the down lofted and in place. The rolltop compress stuff sack packs the Bobcat 45ºF down, so you can carry less and cover more ground.

Ultra-versatile

The Bobcat 45ºF offers endless ways to keep you warm in and outside your comfort zone. Use inside your Roo hammock for a toasty top quilt. When sleeping off the ground, you can also hang your Bobcat 45ºF underneath your hammock to protect you from cool drafts. Hidden elastic cords on each end cinch down to create a cozy toe box for a lighter-weight alternative to a sleeping bag.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a trail quilt?

We define a trail quilt as a quilt that can serve as both a top-quilt and hammock under-quilt on the trail. Our trail quilts also afford you the option of creating footboxes or using them as a minimalist sleeping bag. Our Bobcat 45ºF, Bobcat 55ºF and Firebelly 30ºF are trail quilts because of their packable construction and versatile use cases.

How do I use the Bobcat as an under-quilt or top quilt?

Check out this video for instructions on using your trail quilt as a top quilt, under-quilt and more.

What is the difference between the Bobcat 45ºF and Bobcat 55ºF?

Made from responsibly sourced Downtek™ insulation, the Bobcat 45ºF is a down trail quilt rated for temperatures of 45ºF and above. The Bobcat 45ºF weighs less and packs down smaller than the synthetic Bobcat 55ºF quilt and is perfect for backpacking and hammock camping in cooler temperatures.

How does the Bobcat 45ºF compare to the Firebelly 30ºF?

The Bobcat 45ºF trail quilt joins the Firebelly 30ºF quilt as one of the newest members of our trail quilt family. A more packable option for temperatures 45ºF and above, the Bobcat 45ºF stands apart with its lower price point, much lighter weight, stitch-through construction, and roll-top, water-resistant stuff sack. Designed with travel and backpacking in mind, the Bobcat 45ºF offers warmth on the go. We recommend using the Bobcat 45ºF in moderate-to-cool temperatures, and the Firebelly 30ºF in cooler fall and winter temperatures when extra size and warmth is needed.

How can I loft the down in my Bobcat 45ºF?

When the Bobcat 45ºF is compressed for long periods of time, the downfill can appear flat or displaced when taken out of the bag. After you first receive your Bobcat, give the quilt a good shake, and lay it on a flat surface for a day or two to allow the downtime to loft. Repeat this after storing your Bobcat for any extended period of time.

How do I clean my Bobcat Backpacking Quilt?

The performance of this fill (heat retention!) is directly tied to the “loftiness” of its down. To help your down products retain their loft, please follow our storage and cleaning instructions. Remember: Loft = warmth. Lofty gear = happy you.

Keep your Bobcat 45ºF in tip-top shape by spot cleaning or hand washing when possible. Hand washing your gear with cold water and Grangers Down Wash +

Repel is best for extending its useful life, but it can also be cleaned in a front-load washing machine (do not use a washing machine with an agitator).

Washing machine instructions:

  • If the gear is soiled or stained, use the recommended amount of Grangers Down Wash + Repel. Do not use fabric softener, bleach, or stain removal products.
  • Wash the trail quilt by itself using the gentle/cold water setting.
  • Hang to dry, or use the delicate, no heat tumble setting on the dryer with a clean tennis ball, or dryer ball. Do not stuff it back in a stuff sack if it is damp or wet.

How can I re-loft the down in my Bobcat 45ºF?

When the Bobcat is compressed for long periods of time, the down can look flat out of the bag. When first receiving your Babcat, give the quilt a good shake and lay it on a flat surface for a day or two to allow the downtime to loft. The Insotect Flow technology, which allows you to move and distribute the down within the baffles, can rid any clumped spots you may see in your Bobcat down.
